COURT ORDERS TO FILE CASE AGAINST BJP CORPORATOR FOR CHEATING EC


A city court on Monday has ordered to file a criminal case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Lata Dhayarkar for cheating the Election Commission by submitting forged documents regarding her educational qualification.The Congress’s Poonam Borate, who contested for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) polls in February 2017, had filed a case against Dhayarkar in the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Y P Pujari. Borate and Dhayarkar had contested the elections from Koregoan Park ward.According to the complaint, Dhayarkar had submitted that she passed the SSC examination in 1975. However, Borate has alleged that Dhayarkar had appeared for the exam in 1974 and had failed.Borate also claimed that Dhayarkar had not appeared for any examination in 1975. She has also stated that the BJP corporator has cheated the PMC on two occasions. During the PMC election in 2012, Dhayarkar had submitted that she completed her Class XI in 1973-1974.Advocate Pratap Pardeshi, who represented Borate, told Mirror,“We submitted the documents in the court which reveal that the BJP corporator had provided false information. We prayed for a detail enquiry of the offence and that the police submit the report till September 4.”The court has ordered to register acase against Dhayarkar under sections 167 for framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury, 129 for negligently suffering such prisoner to escape, 200 for using as true such declaration knowing it to be false, 406 for criminal breach of trust, 420 for cheating and 463 for forgery of the IPC.
