राज्य निवडणूक आयोगातर्फे 25 व 26 ऑक्टोबरला हॉटेल लीलामध्ये आंतरराष्ट्रीय परिषद

भारतीय संविधानातील 73 आणि 74 व्या दुरुस्तीच्या रौप्य महोत्सवानिमित्त राज्य निवडणूक आयोगातर्फे 25 आणि 26 ऑक्टोबर 2018 रोजी मुंबई येथे ‘सुदृढ लोकशाहीसाठी निकोप निवडणुका’ या विषयावर दोन दिवशीय आंतरराष्ट्रीय परिषदेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले आहे, अशी माहिती राज्य निवडणूक आयुक्त ज. स. सहारिया यांनी आज येथे दिली. राज्य निवडणूक आयोगाच्या कार्यालयात आयोजित पत्रकार परिषदेत ते बोलत होते. आयोगाचे सचिव शेखर चन्ने यावेळी उपस्थित होते. आंतरराष्ट्रीय परिषदेच्या बोधचिन्हाचेही याप्रसंगी अनावरण करण्यात आले. त्यानंतर श्री. सहारिया म्हणाले की, राज्यपाल सी. विद्यासागर राव यांच्या हस्ते 25 ऑक्टोबर 2018 रोजी सकाळी 9.30 वाजता परिषदेचे उद्‌घाटन होईल. ग्रामविकास मंत्री पंकजा मुंडे आणि विधानसभेचे विरोधी पक्षनेते राधाकृष्ण विखे पाटील प्रमुख पाहुणे असतील. मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या उपस्थितीत 26 ऑक्टोबर 2018 रोजी दुपारी 2.30 वाजता समारोप समारंभ होईल. वित्त व नियोजन मंत्री सुधीर मुनगंटीवार आणि विधानपरिषदेचे विरोधी पक्षनेते धनंजय मुंडे प्रमुख पाहुणे असतील. अंधेरीतील हॉटेल लीलामध्ये ही परिषद होईल. स्थानिक स्वराज्‍य संस्थांच्या निवडणुकांच्या अनुषंगाने परिषदेत विचारमंथन होईल. विविध देशांतील आणि राज्यांतील निवडणूक यंत्रणांचे प्रमुख प्रतिनिधी परिषदेत सहभागी होणार आहेत. ‘जनतेकडील लोकशाहीचे स्वामित्व’, ‘निवडणुकांतील पैशांचा गैरवापर’, ‘वंचित, उपेक्षित व दुर्बल घटकांचा सहभाग’, ‘खोट्या बातम्या व समाज माध्यमांचा गैरवापर’ आणि ‘हितधारकांची भूमिका’ या पाच विषयांवर चर्चासत्र होतील. त्यात निवडणूक संदर्भातील विविध विषयांतील जाणकार आपले विचार मांडतील, अशी माहिती त्यांनी दिली. परिषदेच्या आयोजनासाठी असोसिएशन फॉर डेमोक्रॅटिक रिफॉर्म्स (एडीआर), राष्ट्रकूल स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्था मंच (सीएलजीएफ), पुणे येथील गोखले राज्यशास्र व अर्थशास्र संस्था, इंटरनॅशनल इन्स्टिट्यूट फॉर डेमोक्रसी अँड इलेक्ट्रोल असिस्टन्स (इंटरनॅशनल आयडिया), मुंबई विद्यापीठ आणि रिसोर्स अँड सपोर्ट सेंटर फॉर डेमोक्रसी (आरएससीडी) या संस्थांचे ‘नॉलेज पार्टनर’ म्हणून सहकार्य लाभत आहे. या शिवाय देश- विदेशातील विविध मान्यवरांचेदेखील सहकार्य लाभले आहे, असेही श्री. सहारिया यांनी सांगितले.

SEC Organizes International Conference on 25 & 26 October

In celebrating the 73rd & 74th Amendments to the Constitution of India, the State Election Commission is organizing an International Conference on 25 & 26 October 2018 in Mumbai on the theme of ‘Better Elections for Healthier Democracy’ for two days, the Hon’ble State Election Commissioner, Shri. J.S. Saharia announced today.
          The Hon’ble State Election Commissioner addressed the press at the office of State Election Commission, Maharashtra. Also present for the press conference was Hon’ble Secretary, Shri. Shekhar Channe. The official Logo of International Conference 2018 was released at the hands of Shir. Saharia, in the press conference.  Shri. Saharia said, Hon’ble Governor, Shri. CH. Vidyasagar Rao will be making his remarks at the Inaugural Session of the conference on 25 October 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Smt. Pankaja Munde, Rural Development, Women & Child Development Minister and Shri. Radhakrishna Wikhe-Patil, Leader of Opposition, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, will also be present for this session. Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis will make his presence for the Valedictory Session of the conference on 26 October 2018 at 2:30 p.m. Shri. Sudhir Mungantiwar, Finance & Planning and Forests departments Minister and Shri. Dhananjay Munde, Leader of Opposition, Maharashtra Legislative Council will also be present for this session. This conference is being held at The Leela, Mumbai.
          Shri. Saharia expressed that various issues regarding the election to local bodies will be discussed and deliberated on. There will be presence of representatives from various democratic countries and other Election Commission from across the country. ‘Public Ownership of Democracy’, ‘How to Check Misuse of Money Power’, ‘Inclusiveness’, ‘How to Control Menace of Social Media, Fake News, etc.’ and ‘Role of Various Stakeholders’ are the five themes on which discussions will take place, he stated. In the organizing of the conference, State Election Commission received support and cooperation from its Knowledge Partners: Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Commonwealth Local Self Government Forum (CLGF), Gokhale Institution of Politics & Economics, Pune, International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (Int. IDEA), University of Mumbai and Resource and Support Centre for Development (RSCD). In addition, cooperation from various national and international countries and their representatives was a real encouragement, said Shri. J. S. Saharia.
